Tribal Skull Tattoo Designs - The Next Most Favored Tattoo in Both Men and Women

Tribal Skull Tattoo DesignsA lot of people gaze at tattoos as a way to show off, become rugged, or just make a statement. Many of them are trying to express their feelings, lifestyle, or past. Over the years, tattoos have evolved into many unique designs, and they continue to grow and to satisfy the person getting the tattoo. Before getting a tattoo always do your homework to find the tattoo that you want. If you like long thick symmetrical designs, tribal tattoos are perfect for you.

Tribal tattoo designs are very detailed and can look very good on anyone, which makes it a great tattoo to have. Thousands of years ago, these tattoos were used by members of antediluvian tribes for identifying the members of their clan. Some of the tribes believed that tribal tattoos had religious or spiritual connotations. If you have an inclination towards notions such as life and death, you might find many such tattoo designs in the tribal tattoo art. Well, if you have a dark side, or you are obsessed with the notion of death, you will certainly like tribal skull tattoos. These tattoos are very appealing. If you are spell-bound by tribal skull tattoos, it's time to find out more about tribal skull tattoo symbolization.

Tribal Skull Tattoos Symbolism

When planning on getting a tribal skull tattoo design, you should first understand what it symbolizes. The meaning of the tattoo must be in conformity with your way of thinking or your emotions. Normally skull tattoos mean death or relate to the dead. But there can be other meanings as well. The conception of death is very complicated in itself. It can be related to the spirituality world also. It can mean the transformation from life to the after world.

It can also be used to teach individuals not to be afraid of death since it comes naturally. Death is not the only meaning. Tribal skull designs can also be associated with dangerous activities, the thrill for adventure, etc. It can also be inked as a way to show others your wild and crazy side. Many men use it as a sign of masculinity or to scare others. One way that women show that they too can be fearless is to get a tattoo of a skull.

Tribal Skull Tattoo Designs

As is the case with any tattoo, the tribal skull tattoo designs depend upon your imagination and creativity. The thick line of tribal tattoos helps greatly in producing the style of the tribal skull design. You can get this tattoo anywhere. But the most outstanding place is on a person's arm, shoulder, and their back. The skull and crossbones tattoo is one of the common skull tattoo designs. You can also tell the tattoo artist to make an evil skull drawing with a banner on the skull that carries your name. There are literally endless possibilities of skull designs to make.

You can also include other design elements such as flames. Flames can be drawn around the skull. Many tribal skulls are just plain black and white but if you add color to yours that makes it more personal. Thick, dark-colored strokes around the skull look great. Most women make a skull tattoo more feminine by adding color even flowers, especially roses. If you want a scary or evil-looking skull tattoo, you could add horns to the skull or show a snake rolled around the skull. If you want something detailed, you could get the grim reaper skeleton skull tattoo. Another interesting suggestion would be to get merely a part of skull tattooed and display flames all around it. You can also make two swords underneath the skull. A lot can be done to make the skull look scary. You can darken the eye sockets. You can also use skull design as a piece of a larger tattoo.

Spider Tattoo Designs

For the most part of documented past centuries, human beings have embossed tattoos on their bodies for a foray of reasonsspider tattoo ranging from magical protection, relieving pain, vengeance to declaring victory against a foe. Historical analysis credits tattoos to have been created to display beauty, valor, group solidarity, religious belief, shock and personal independence. Recent research has indicated that over 60% of the North American youths aged between 18 to 30 years old have at least a single tattoo on their body.

Among the most popular tattoo designs in the world, the spider tattoo is a symbol crossing over numerous tattoo genres. The spider tattoo is believed to have originated from one indigenous tribe of Malaysia. It is therefore strongly featured by most tribal tattoos of various indigenous tribes around the world. Very few cultures fail to have tales about spiders constituted in their mythologies, maybe because spiders inhabit almost all corners of the globe. Struggle in the web of life's intricacies is basically what a spider tattoo symbolizes.

In some tribes, the spider tattoos represents incarcerated capture while the different strands making up the web implies a metaphor symbolizing bars. In the Western countries, these bars are associated with crime, which depicts how long one has stayed behind prison walls. The tattoo is a symbol of a struggling generation; a struggle with drugs, struggle against the political system, while some people are always struggling against the oddity of life. And so no matter how long and much your struggle is, you find yourself entangled in the web of life. Thus from a Nazi wanna-be with a spider tattoo on his cheek to a Latino on the street with the same feature on his neck, it basically draws to the same meaning, the spider tattoo is not an entity belonging to any specific group but to all whom the tentacles of life holds in the sublimes of a web.

You will also find a great community of like-minded tribal tattoo enthusiasts who can help you with this decision. On top of that, a pay site will have updated lists of recommended local tattoo artists that do tribal tattoos. Tribal tattoos are handled a little differently than regular tattoos so that is why you want to find a tattoo artist that knows what they are doing.

Shark tattoos have long been seen as the artistic expression of bravery, and an emblem for protection. The predatory nature of the shark makes it the perfect symbol for fortitude and a toughness of spirit. Many sailors wore shark tattoos to show their fearlessness towards the often menacing temper of the sea. This general emotion, alongside the sleek body and intimidating appearance that these creatures are known for, make this tattoo a unique and interesting piece.

Tribal Tattoos

Tribal tattoos go back to ancient times when almost every culture used tattooing - the oldest being that of a Bronze Age tribal phoenix tattoowarrior who lived more than five thousand years ago. People like the Celts, the Aztecs, the ancient Egyptians and others all used tattoos for different reasons. Sometimes tattoos were purely for personal adornment, to denote rank, or as a way of proclaiming oneself as a member of a certain tribe - sometimes tattoos had religious significance and often temporary tattooing was used during times of war. Many African tribes would use this type of tattooing to make themselves appear more frightening to their enemies.

Tribal art tattooing is becoming something of a modern phenomenon as they are among the most requested designs around. Almost everyone seems to have heard of tribal tattoos and they want the bold, often black outlined designs tattooed on their bodies. Tribal designs often depict animals or birds, whatever seemed important to the ancient mind. Even now, tribal tattoos are not just a matter of adornment; they are most often a personal statement about who a person is and what they are like. African and Pacific Island tribes created the most distinctive tattoo designs - many of them reflecting the world that these people inhabited. Much tribal tattooing was facial and in some parts of the world these facial tattoos are most often used as a reminder of a person's tribal or family history. New Zealand Maoris in particular use this type of facial tattooing and their tattoos are usually quite distinctive.

Native Americans also used tribal tattooing and very often this was a way of distinguishing one tribe from another tribe. The Native Americans used tattoos when they were going to war - not so much to frighten their enemies but to provide them with protection. In the tribal world, things are not always as they seem and tattooing and tattoo designs were not just mere ornaments, they meant something. They were also a way of defining who was a member of the tribe and who was outside of it. Tribal tattooing was brought to the West by sailors in the nineteenth century who also brought with them the expertise and the special inks and needles of the tribal tattooist.

Great History Of Body Art Tattoos

The history of body art started with prehistoric humans. In the prehistoric era, belief in a soul, guarded by the spirit of another creature, inspired pictures of that creature on the body. The spirit of that creature guarded, gave safety, and led the soul down the path of life. Body art was a way to keep the spirit close, always.

Throughout time, body art kept its position as a spiritual expression, and it also became an expression of social importance. Native American and African tribes used tattoos and body piercing to express beliefs and stature in society. Chiefs, for instance, had different body markings than an ordinary hunter or any other tribe member. Where a chief may have had a tattoo that symbolized power or resembled a god, a hunter might have had a tattoo that resembled a buffalo or some game he hunted. Piercings and tattoos were signs of accomplishment and membership.

The History of Body Art Tattoos

Certain tattoos stood for positions in the community, and in some cases, every member had some type of body marking that indicated their status. For ceremonies, the elite class donned the trappings of their rank and power. Women in the tribes received a special marking for marriage, to signify they were a spouse. The chief had more tattoos and more piercings because of his stature in the tribe, and the older members of the tribe had more because of age. In many cases, the markings had high, religious significance.

As time progressed further, body art stayed as an expression of beliefs, but the beliefs and reasons for body art strayed from religion and community stature. Some Americans believe that
body art grew in popularity in the 1960s as a revolt against the formalism of society. Along with that theory, some “flower children” used bodyart to demonstrate the incompleteness of all art. Some got tattoos to express love for another person, orto state a belief about an issue facing society. A quote in an article by Deborah Irmas states that “Tattooing has become an expression of art, a far cry from the times when it was viewed as a ritual of passage in ancient cultures”. Some men, however, got tattoos to demonstrate membership in a gang or group, much like the Native American and African tribes.

The History of Body Art Tattoos

Body art is still used in ancient practices and to show status rankings in tribes like the Surma of Ethiopia. For example, in the Surma tribe, young boys still use lip plates. Lip plates are used to stretch the lips and indicate how many cattle a man’s family will receive from his bride’s family when they are married. The tattoos that women receive when they are married include symbols of prosperity and well-being.

Body art has lasted throughout history and is still important in society. The tribes of Africa keep old traditions alive by continuing to use body art, and Americans use body art to identify themselves and as a form of individuality. In a sense, as society has grown and changed, so has body art.
